  1. While I can't see your entire lesson plan, street art is a great cultural connection. People see it everywhere they go, even in my suburban small town. There are a lot of great public/street works of art throughout Detroit. Last week I took my fourth graders to the DIA and we drove past the Russell Industrial Complex. Students were in awe of the large lion image painted on the side of the building. We talked about other street artists who have created public works of art including Shephard Fairey's mural downtown. It ended up being a nice lead-in to Diego Rivera's murals inside the DIA.

  2. Andrew, Nice work on your padlet. I really like the information your included about fair use for your students. I can see that being a part of the lesson that has a big impact. I also though the inclusion of the infamous Banksy is also something the students might be able to understand because of how recent it was. There is a really interesting documentary on Banksy that would be a great addition if you could secure permission to use it.
